Writing is a personal experience that represents the authors’ identities, their experiences, aspirations and hopes for the future. Many have found themselves in writing, spanning a multitude of works that continue to dazzle and captivate hearts to this day. Writing has grown through the passing of time, giving rise to numerous forms and even more uses.

Anyone can benefit from writing, even amateurs and those who don’t partake in the activity. It can be a fount of wealth for people willing to seek it. Depending on the form, writing can paint a picture, incite people to action, take them on an adventure and so much more. 

Forms of Writing

Writing can be used in numerous paths of life. For instance, story writing isn’t just for weaving tales on the pages of a book. It can be used in education and even business, forming persuasive statements that can influence people and advocate for change. Some examples of writing types include:

1- Academic writing; as the name implies, this is the type used in matters related to education. It generally involves research and an objective perspective. Examples are research papers and school essays. 

2- Travel writing; just what it sounds like, writing about places people travel to. There’s more to it though, writers are on tight deadlines and have to see most of the places they visit, leaving them with little window for freedom. 

3- Critical writing; this is the type of writing that analyzes media forms and gives criticism that influences the people’s opinions of the pieces. Unlike academic writing, this is purely subjective. Examples are game reviews and music reviews.

4- Narrative writing; the form of writing that gives life to a writer’s imagination. Be it fiction or nonfiction, writers weave tales of various kinds to entertain. Examples are novels and narrative journalism (1) (2) (3). 

The charm of stories

Stories serve as a gateway to many possibilities. A grand quest into a new world, an entirely new viewpoint to the world, paving the way to revelations and facts previously unknown. They weave tales that dazzle and ignite curiosity and imagination, while offering hope and solace. Stories provide an escape from everyday worries, a means into a completely different life (4).

As well as new experiences which people may never have had otherwise. People can even come back to a story they’re particularly fond of, re-reading it may bring new feelings they’d never experienced before. Stories weave magic that continues to captivate hearts and minds and will likely do so for days to come (5). 

All in all, writing has been of enormous benefit to society. Each type is akin to a precious gem waiting to be discovered. All a person has to do is try and reach out and they too can discover the gift that keeps on giving.
