Future visions: the Edtech industry, the market, and trends to join the pioneers in the future of education Discovering all about edtech, its impact and the leading revolution on education
Malaz Dhirar
The meeting of education and technology is revolutionary, as proven by the education technology (EdTech) system. It's where technology is used to assist in education for an individualized style of learning. With its rising popularity and success edtech is expected to keep going strong in the future.
The edtech sector has revolutionized the ways of learning and teaching while also making a great impact on business. Thanks to the rising profit, many seek to strike while the iron is hot, joining the sector to make new services. It's so much so that there are thousands if not millions of edtech companies in the world.
Edtech business markets
The last few years witnessed the rapid growth of edtech along with evolving technology of the digital age. Edtech companies, or edtech start-ups, continue to challenge the status quo of education. They’ve transformed the ways companies operate, offering a vast user base while generating profit through a multitude of services. Their accessible, sustainable solutions for learning continue to make waves in education everyday (1)(2).
Edtech technologies also make it easier for teachers to make engaging lesson plans. Thanks to all its benefits, developing edtech apps is shaping up to be a very lucrative venture. Among the most important factors to consider is the target market. Understanding and meeting the customer’s needs is essential for success. Examples include:
1- K-12 education; providing students up to grade 12 with sufficient and interactive lesson plans. Learning experiences also let teachers track down students’ progress.
2- Professional growth; it’s not just kids or even any adult who wants to learn. Working people also seek to improve or gain skills and thus require specialized learning plans.
3- Language learning; the name may as well be self-explanatory. No matter the level, people seeking to learn new languages or better their language skills can find services ranging from online courses, to tutoring services and even immersion programs (3).
Trends in the Edtech sector
The edtech business is ever changing, continuously driven by educational needs as well as global trends in teaching and learning. It’s important to keep track of trends in the business (4)(5)(6).
Edtech continues to grant people better and better accessibility to education, allowing them to learn anytime and anywhere. Not only does it raise engagement, it continues to make learning more enjoyable while also being cost effective. The emerging trends in the business include:
1- AI; contrary to general fears, AI isn’t meant to steal jobs. Studies show that while people are generally interested in AI content, it’s not perfect. Content augmented by AI but still including a human touch is superior (7)(8).
2- Great inflow; with the technological advancements of this age, companies seek to keep polishing their workforce. Access to the internet has greatly increased and the edtech market has witnessed a great rise. Investments have at least tripled over the years and profit is perhaps just as great.
3- Unique platforms; the growth of the edtech industry led to much variety. Its services now range from online courses to a number of learning methods such as different social media platforms, which have a bundle of educational content.

The impact of the edtech sector is perhaps as immense as its role in the world. People young and old gain much from it, one is never really done learning after all. Its future is as bright as the possibilities it grants to people all over the world.
