Key to motivation: carpe diem and the inner fire, strategies to find and keep hold of motivation for the sake of succes Persevering and seizing everyday, the weight and significance of motivation
Malaz Dhirar
Many may have heard the phrase when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Essentially, during rough times, the strong find a way to persevere. Motivation is what lets people find that way, in fact, it is a guiding force for human behavior. Motivation is vital for growth and development, helping one overcome challenges and come out on top. It has a vast role in nearly all aspects of life. Motivation is about finding potential and persevering, the sky’s the limit!
Carpe Diem and the inner flame
Carpe Diem is a latin expression that means seize the day, it’s the idea that one should make the most of every day and enjoy life. The inner flame is the power that helps people move forward, the passion that allows the pursuit of goals. One should make the most of every day while they can and try not to leave any regrets behind, for all life will eventually end. The paths of life may be uncertain but every individual can find the power within themselves to reach a fulfilling life (1)(2).
Significance of Motivation
The benefits of motivation are apparent in our way of life. Motivation boosts performance in various areas while helping raise self-esteem and positivity. It allows people to change and grow, to learn and maintain overall well-being through life’s challenges. With motivation, people thrive in many walks of life. It lets people persevere against all odds and see the possibilities in life (3).
How to never let go of Motivation
Motivation depends on the person themselves, everyone is different. Some may find it easy to stay motivated and keep their passion burning bright, others however, may not even be able to get the slightest bit of motivation for anything. A strategy to help on that front would be identifying one’s troublesome habits. There’s no fixing a problem without identifying it first. No one is perfect, acknowledging our weaknesses allows people to work on them and figure out how to fix them. Another one would be fostering intrinsic motivation by setting a goal or several throughout a day and then setting a reward for achieving them. This eventually leads to growing positive habits that become second nature (4)(5).
Motivation isn’t without its challenges but overcoming these challenges is more than rewarding. A person might stumble and fall but there’s no reason not to get back up and try again. Nothing is achieved by holding back so it’s important to reach for goals and aspirations and keep that flame burning bright.
